näkö fabric
Mitamura’s art project näkö is a fabric brand that designs prints based on sceneries encountered during travels. näkö” is a Finnish word meaning “vision” or “sight.” The brand aspires to transform scenic landscapes that are captive to the eye by bringing back the scenic memories into everyday life in the form of fabrics and bags. Following the launch of “MEGI Fab” at the Setouchi Triennale 2022, this year’s project will focus on the scenery of Yokohama.
Midori MITAMURA
Mitamura creates spatial installations combining various media such as photography, video, text, and everyday artifacts imbued with personal novelistic remembrances gathered from her fieldwork. She has shown her works both domestically and internationally. She was dispatched overseas as an emerging artist by the Agency for Cultural Affairs (2005), had a three-city touring solo exhibition in Finland (2005), and a solo exhibition of her work at the Vienna Secession (2006). Mitamura was also invited to participate in Aichi Triennale 2016, Assembridge Nagoya 2020, The Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions 2022, and The Setouchi Triennale 2022.
